Jose Sansores, started his outfitting business in the jungles of the Yucatan Peninsula in 1944 and was soon joined by his son Jorge. While working for his father, Jorge guided clients from all over the world to hunt Jaguar, Collared Peccary, Brocket deer, Ocelot and many types of jungle fowl.
It wasn’t until 1978 that Jorge hosted the first ever group of clients that came specifically to hunt what the Mayans called “Ucutz il Chican”, the Ocellated turkey. Jim Davis, a biologist and Colonel Dave Harbour, an outdoor writer, were both successful on their hunts, and the news soon spread to the outside world about this magnificently colored jungle bird.
Fast forward 40 years to the present and Jorge, was joined by his son Roberto, who is now creating memories for those individuals seeking adventure chasing the Ocellated turkey with Snook Inn Hunting. In fact, no one has been hunting Ocellated turkeys in the Yucatan Peninsula longer than the Sansores family. All of the guides at Snook Inn have been with Jorge for at least 25, and some for as long as 40 years.
